This policy describes how Radon411 handles information from visitors. It is a plain- language summary, not a substitute for legal advice.
What we collect
If a feature on the site asks you to submit information directly, such as the corrections form, claiming a business listing or buying a Location Report, we use that information only for the stated purpose. If you give an email address in the corrections form, we keep it with your report so we can reply.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, handles every request to the site, including your IP address, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, under its own privacy policy. Our own records never store your IP address.
Usage analytics
We measure how the site is used with our own analytics, so we can see which pages help people, what they search for and cannot find, and what is slow or broken. No third-party analytics or advertising script runs on the site, and nothing is shared with or sold to anyone.
When you read a page, your browser sends us:
- the page address, without anything after a question mark, and the kind of page;
- the site that sent you there (only its domain, such as a search engine's) and any campaign tags in the link;
- how long the page was open and in use, how far down you scrolled, and how quickly it loaded and responded;
- which links and buttons you clicked (their text and where they sit on the page), which questions you opened, and what you typed into the site's search box;
- your screen width band and browser language;
- and any error the page hit in your browser.
From the request itself we keep:
- your approximate location (country, region and city), as estimated by Cloudflare;
- the kind of device and the names of your browser and operating system, but not the full browser description;
- a visitor code made from your IP address and browser with a random key that changes every day. We delete each day's key once the day is over, after which nobody, including us, can link that code back to an address or to your visits on another day.
Search text that looks like a street address, an email address or a phone number is stored only as a label such as "[street address]", never as typed. The private links to purchased reports are never stored. Automated traffic, such as search engine crawlers, is dropped and only counted.
Cookies and storage
The site sets no cookies for visitors. To tell one visit from the next, your browser keeps a random visit code in its session storage, which it deletes when you close the tab; the site also remembers a few choices in your browser, such as a place you looked at or a role you picked, so it can show them back to you. None of this identifies you. Any advertising or affiliate partner in use may set its own cookies once you follow a link to its site, governed by its own privacy policy; the affiliate disclosure explains how affiliate links are marked.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we honour it: your browser sends only which page you viewed, and we add one to that page's daily count. No visit code, visitor code, location, referring site, click or other detail is kept for you.
How long we keep it
Detailed analytics records are deleted after 3 months at most, sooner if storage runs short. Before that, each day is summarised into daily totals (for example, views of a page or searches for a place), which hold nothing about any one visit and are kept so we can compare years. The daily key behind visitor codes is deleted after one day.
Because these records cannot be tied to a person, we cannot find, show or delete "your" analytics data in response to a request; the rights described below still apply to anything else you have given us.
Third-party links
Pages on Radon411 link to government sources, professional directory listings and retailers. Once you follow one of those links, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.
U.S. state privacy rights
Several U.S. states give their residents rights over the personal data a business holds about them. They include California (the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act), Virginia (the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act), Colorado (the Colorado Privacy Act), Connecticut (the Connecticut Data Privacy Act) and Utah (the Utah Consumer Privacy Act). Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access: confirm whether we hold personal data about you and get a copy of it.
- Delete: ask us to delete personal data we hold about you.
- Correct: ask us to fix personal data about you that is inaccurate. Utah's law does not include this right; we handle correction requests from any state the same way.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: tell us not to sell your personal data, not to share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and not to use it for targeted advertising.
We do not sell personal data
Radon411 does not sell personal data, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising. The site loads no third-party script, and its own usage analytics store a daily-rotating visitor code rather than your IP address. Because there is no sale or sharing to stop, there is no opt-out to switch on; your browser's Global Privacy Control signal is honoured as described above, and you can still send an opt-out request and we will record it.
How to submit a request
Use the form on the corrections page, choose "A privacy request", give the email address the request is about, and say which right you want to use. We may ask for information to confirm the request comes from you, such as a reply from that email address, and we use that information only to verify the request. An authorized agent may submit a request for you where your state allows it, with proof that you authorized them.
We respond within 45 days, and if we need longer, which these laws allow once for up to another 45 days, we tell you why within the first 45. If we decline a request, we explain why, and you can appeal by replying to that decision. If you disagree with the outcome of an appeal, you can contact your state attorney general. We will not deny you access to the site, or treat you differently, for exercising any of these rights.
